The Montreal International Festival of Tango ( MITF ) was created in 2003. One of the main objectives of the MITF is to offer to the city of Montreal a cultural event of significant influence and impact. At the moment, it is the only event of its kind in Canada. The MITF objective is to bring Montreal to be the North American capital of tango. Each year, the MITF presents music of the highest quality performed by musicians from Argentina as well as from Quebec. Many free concerts are offered outdoors and are open to the public at large. The orchestras also present concerts during milongas (dance evenings with live music) and in renowned theatres. Every odd-numbered year, MITF welcomes musicians as well as dancers of international status. THE MITF offers, apart from the concerts section, an intensive dance training program with workshops for beginners and dancers of all levels with guest masters (2003, 2005 , 2007, 2009). Every even-numbered year, the Festival offers mainly concerts dedicated to tango music ans a smaller amount of classes (2004, 2006, 2008, 2010). PARTNERS 2010
